CSA Share

Tuesday is our day to pick up our share from Fox Creek Farm. Today's delivery had the usual summer squash (what ever do you do with all of it?), potatoes, eggplant, leeks, heirloom tomatoes, green beans, various types of peppers, lettuce, red onion and garlic. All that, AND, it is grown locally. We've even met the farmer who grows these fab veggies just across the Albany County line.

We're fortunate to be able to pick up our share at Honest Weight Food Co-op, so we can do other grocery shopping as well. I am appreciative that the co-op allows a "competitor" to use their space because the Farm and Co-op share the same values, i.e. buying local and organics. For my man and I, the Co-op wins in this situation as we have been buying more there this summer than we have in other years - because we are there.

Anyway, tonight we made use of the eggplant, a couple of tomatoes and onion by making a darn good risotto, from a cookbook my mom gave me called: Madhur Jaffrey's World Vegetarian.

Risotto is still a new thing to me, so when I have it, I just think, "yummm."
