This past weekend my man and I drove down to Ithaca for a swell camping trip with family. On our way we learned of the most awesome ice cream stand - ever. Really.
Country Cream is seriously in a place that you have to be in the know - to know about. Or as my man would say it's "between nowhere and Quizno's."

It's a few miles south of Masonville, NY on Rt. 8. Apparently this place has the last, or one of the last of the first soft serve ice cream machines. Their machine is unique because it uses a solid block of ice cream, and churns it with any other flavors or ingredients you want. The end result is an ice cream stand in rural NYS that can give it's customers 52+ flavors of ice cream. The flavors very from Chocolate Mocha Almond to Cake to Maple Walnut. And, it looks like they add new flavors for different seasons.
To top it off, the ice cream is super-grand. On our first drive by I got the cherry ice cream. It had plenty of chunks of merachino cherries in it (yum). Then , on our drive back home, we took the 8 mile detour for more. That time I got the fresh blueberry ice cream. Gosh, that was goooooood. My man's choices were chocolate malt and ginger snap.
So, if you are ever traveling between Binghamton and Albany on Rt. 88, I highly recommend going off the interstate and visiting Country Cream.
i am sold! of course i will most likely never be over there. but i LOVE obscure ice cream flavors. especially cake flavored ice creams. and that malted one sounds awesome. yummmm.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone reads this, and I hope you do, one cannot imagine how fantastic this ice cream is. It's worth whatever detour you have to take!
